The Detroit Lions have named Pat Maloney of McBain High School the week three recipient of the 2024 High School Football Coach of the Week Program. Maloney’s Ramblers went on the road and defeated Highland Conference rival Beal City 29-25 to run their record to 3-0 on the season. McBain is currently ranked No. 9 in Division 7. On Friday, September 2 0th, the Ramblers host the Roscommon Bucks in only the 5th matchup all-time between these two programs.
Maloney is in his 23rd season coaching high school football and in his 10th season as head coach at McBain, compiling a 62-35 (63.9%) record. He has led the Ramblers to the playoffs in 8 of his 9 full seasons, while reaching the regional finals in 2015 & 2023. Maloney spent 10 years as head coach at Rudyard High School (2002-11) and 3 years as an assistant coach at Sault Area High School before coming back to McBain in 2015, where he is a McBain alumnus and current math teacher at McBain Rural Agricultural School/High School.
