Tyler started playing football in the fourth grade for the Exchange Park. He played football at Jackson for four years, two years as a varsity starter at running back. He was a member of the Jackson Citizen Patriot All Area Team, CAAC Division I All Conference Team both years, as well as Detroit Free Press All State Honorable Mention in 2007. Over his two-year varsity career, Tyler rushed for over 2100 yards, over 20 touchdowns, and was team captain in 2007. He was named Team Skilled Player of the Year in 2007.
Tyler was a four-year varsity letter winner in track earned all state honors for the 100 meters in 2006 and was named to the Jackson Citizen Patriot All Area Track Team in 2006 and 2007He was Most Valuable Player in 2006 and team captain in 2007.
Tyler will continue his academic and athletic careers at Eastern Michigan University.
Tyler thanked Coach Jack Fairly and the entire football and track coaching staffs at Jackson High, as well as Athletic Director, Russell Davis. He thanked the Jackson community for supporting the Jackson Football program. “1 thank my friends for being there for me and for their support over the years, and special thanks to my Dad, Mom, and sister for never missing a game and supporting me through my ups and downs. Thank you to the rest of my family for all their support, and thanks to all those who have been instrumental in guiding, encouraging, and supporting me.”
