Because of his small family they are very close, and have always given Shaun all of their support in sports, and every other involvement he takes on. One of his largest fans and supporters is his grandfather, “who has done everything possible to make it to all of my games, no matter what sport I happen to be playing at the time.” Shaun looks to his grandfather as a role model. “My grandmother also comes to all the games her health will allow he to attend. My family has encouraged me the entire way.”
Shaun was a three-year varsity starter. His junior and senior years he played both ways. His junior year he was unable to finish the year because of a broken leg. Staying active in both basketball and track allowed him to maintain endurance until the following football season. His senior year he set the school records for most points scored in a single season, and most touchdowns in a single season, 18. Shaun also made First Team All Conference Defensive End, Second Team All Conference Running Back, and First Team All Battle Creek Area, for both Defensive End, and Running Back.
