Nick’s parents are Wendy and Doug. Nick said, “I have always loved football but was not able to play when I was younger because I was always too big to play on youth teams. In his eighth grade year he met Scott Murray, the varsity head coach at Garden City High School, who told him he would, indeed, be able to play in his freshman year. Coach Murray invited him to attend the high school’s weight room and speed training sessions for underclassmen. In Nick’s freshman year he became the first freshman to ever make the “1000 Pound Club”. In his freshman year, Nick played right tackle on the JV team. That summer he was moved to varsity and began to play right guard in his sophomore season securing the starting position. In his junior year, he moved to left guard and played all special teams. As a junior he also made Garden City’s “1250 Pound Club”. As a senior Nick was elected captain and moved to the center position and also played inside linebacker. He started both ways and played on the special teams. In his high school career, Nick started and played in all 36 games played by the Cougars.
Nick wrestled in his freshman year and threw shot and disc for the Garden City track team.
Thanking his family, “They have been the biggest reason for my continuing participation in football”, Nick said he plans to continue his football and academic career at Davenport University.
