Myles was a three-year starter and served as a captain his senior year for the Battle Creek Central Bearcats, where he played corner back and safety. During his sophomore season Myles had 65 tackles and 1 interception. The Bearcats finished the season after two playoff games at 8-3. During his junior season, Myles recorded 45 tackles and 3 interceptions. The Bearcats appeared in 1 play-off game. In his senior season Myles was placed in the record books of Battle Creek Central with the third longest kick return (93 yards) and finished the season with 39 tackles and 3 interceptions and the Bearcats continued their streak of playoff appearances.
Myles also lettered in basketball and was a state qualifier and city champion in track.
Myles thanked his Mom and Dad for his talent and his brother Tony for support and guidance to success. “Major thanks” were given to his junior high coaches Steve Rosier and Mo Fitzpatrick who discovered his athleticism first. Orval King and Mike VanSycle for all the hours and for teaching him “all I know about being a top notch defensive back.” He said, “RIP” to his mother Melba J. McNichols and “thank you to every person who ever helped me with anything, to all the parents for all the rides home and to all my teammates who were there for me when times were hard.”
