Mitchell Stanitzek is the son of Patti and Fritz Stanitzek. He has two older twin sisters, Megan and Natalie (23).
Mitchell was moved up to varsity as a freshman and started on varsity for three years. He played tight end and defensive end for the Falcons. During Mitchell’s career he was a part of three District Championships, three Regional Championships, two State Championship appearances, and one Division 5 State Championship. In Mitchell’s senior season he was voted Captain and compiled 117 tackles, 17 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 27 tackles for a loss. At offensive end he had 20 receptions for over 300 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also set his school record in tackles for a loss in a game (6), season (27), and career (45). Mitchell was then named 2013 team MVP by his teammates.
Mitchell has also participated in basketball, baseball, and track at Grand Rapids West Catholic.
Mitchell plans to play football at Central Michigan University while studying exercise science. Mitchell thanked his family, “for their love and support throughout my career.” He said, “I thank my coaches especially Coach Rohn, Coach Abid, and Coach Check for giving me the opportunity to play and succeed at West Catholic.” He added, “I thank my teammates and God for helping me achieve my goals. I am blessed and honored to be representing my school and state in this year’s all star game against Ohio.”
