Michael is the son of Michael Sr. and Teresa Keith. He is the younger brother of sisters Jennifer and Sarah. Jennifer is married to Steven Smart and Sarah is married to Mike McCarthy. Michael is also an uncle to Jennifer and Steve’s son Kevin.

Michael first started playing football at age six, playing flag football for the Roseville Broncos. After playing for the Broncos Michael then played for the East Detroit Tigercats starting at age nine. After playing for the Tigercats for two seasons. Michael played for St. Anne’s for grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. Michael was the captain and starting defensive tackle and offensive tackle for the 8th grade St. Anne’s team. For the DeLaSalle High School Freshman team Michael was the starting defensive tackle and offensive tackle. That year the DeLaSalle Freshman team posted a 7-1 record. In 10th grade Michael was named captain of the Junior Varsity team. In the 11th grade Michael was the only junior to start on the offensive line where the team reached the state semi-finals. That year Michael was named the Most Improved Offensive Player. Michael’s senior year he was named captain and was the starting Guard and Middle Linebacker. 2010 The DeLaSalle Pilots posted a 9-3 record while winning a District title in Division 2. Michael finished second in DeLaSalle history in tackles with 134. Michael was named 2010 All-Catholic, 2010 All Macomb County, All-Metro East, 2010 AP All-State, 2010 Detroit Free Press All-State Dream Team for Offensive Line, and 2010 Detroit News Dream Team as a Linebacker. Michael was voted by his teammates best Offensive Lineman, best Linebacker and M.V.P of the 2010 DeLaSalle football team.

Michael also participated in Link Crew which is a program to help incoming freshmen adapt to high school. Also Michael participated in intramural sports: basketball, volleyball, and softball. Michael also enjoys attending other sporting events to cheer on his classmates.

Michael thanks his parents, “for always supporting me through my years in school and football and for providing me with everything that I needed to be successful.” Michael thanks his sisters and other family members “for coming to every game and cheering me on. Also I want to thank my trainer Dave Reid for getting me prepared for my senior year of football and now for college football.” Finally Michael wants to thank every coach that has coached him, and teacher who taught him “for helping me grow not just as a football player but also as a person.”
