When he resumed in his sophomore year, he had grown larger and faster. Over the summer he discovered what a difference a little time in the weight room can make on the field. His junior year he was a two-way starter on varsity. His senior year he was voted team captain, and was a two-way starter again. In the fall, Matt will continue his football career at Saginaw Valley State.
Matt was a member of the National Honor Society. He held a 3.85 GPA throughout high school. Besides playing football, Matt was a two-year varsity wrestler at 215 pounds. He was also a member of the school’s 1200 pound weight lifting club.
Matt said, “I thank my parents for always supporting me but never pressuring me, the entire Carlson Coaching staff for pushing me to be the best athlete and person that I could be, and my teammates for always being there for me when I needed them.”
