Matt was a two-way starter and co-caption for the 2007 Cadillac Vikings. He played offensive tackle and defensive end. During his senior year he recorded 38 tackles. His season was cut short as the result of a knee injury. However, he said, “My high school career was some of the best times I’ve had so far in life.”

As a Student athlete at Cadillac High School Matt was active in the community with such things as Project X-mas, coaching and helping out in camps, and teaching children about safety during the Safety Expo. He earned a 3.7 GPA and was also a junior Rotarian. He was also a three-year member of the school hockey team.

Matt thanked his family for the “constant support through the ups and downs.” He said that, “They pushed me to be the best I could be and never to accept mediocrity.” He thanked Coach Webb and the coaching staff for “making my high school experience the best it could have possibly been.” He also thanked “the community and team for the support I’ve received and impact they’ve had on my life.”
