Malik started playing football at age seven when he lived in Inkster. He played for the Inkster Raiders and was an offensive guard for his first year and a half. Since then, he’s “been a hybrid playing many positions.” When he got to the varsity team, though, he was “limited” to running back, wide receiver, kicker, and defensive back. Malik was named 1st team All-Conference as a senior, and received MVP recognition for his play for Wayne Memorial and on his travel team “1Nation”. He said, “Although I have the least experience at defensive back, I love to compete and look forward to the challenge in the all star game”.
Malik also ran track three years at WMHS. He qualified for regionals as a freshman, sophomore and junior, but did not to run as a senior due to a leg injury. Also a member of Wayne Memorial’s Champions program, Malik served as a scholar/mentor.
Malik said, “I am my school’s first all star and have many who I thank for this privilege. I thank my travel team head coach, Coach Mckinney, for helping me through the process. I thank my head Coach, Coach Andrson (“D-Why”), for all of his support. He constantly networked for me and checked-up on me. I couldn’t have asked for a better head coach. I thank both of my parents, Coach Ramsey, and my entire family. Finally, I thank my classmates, Mrs. Vaughn, Mrs. Gusty, Mrs. Smelcer, Mrs. Sullivan, Mr. Deluca, and everyone else.”
