Lucas played soccer for most of his life, but decided to play football the day before two-a-days in the summer before his junior year. The decision was very impulsive, and his coaches were very surprised to see him at football practice. He worked his way onto the field as a corner and kicker throughout his junior season, and with hard work the following off-season, earned those starting positions his senior year. Lucas’ high school, H.H.Dow, had a very successful season his senior year, finishing with a 7-3 record after a loss in the playoffs.

Lucas is very involved at his high school and church. At school he is a member of the National Honor Society, Gang Green (the school spirit club), Student Union, and Drama Club. He was an emcee for the 2005 RenFair, the school talent show. He also runs the basketball concession stand with his buddy, Brady Smith, and holds a part-time job. Lucas has been on two mission trips, he helps plan and put on church retreats for middle school and high school students, and is active in Youth Group. Through all of this Lucas has maintained a 4.28 GPA.

“I would like to thank my parents for obvious reasons, my older brother for beating me up when I was smaller than him, my sister for being my hero all those years, my friends for a good time, my coaches for putting up with me, and God for all of that.”
