He later started on the varsity basketball team as a sophomore and led the team in scoring each of the next three seasons. Justin decided to play football his sophomore year to add strength and toughness for the basketball season. He came off the bench as a free safety in his first varsity football game and started every game through the end of his senior season. As a sophomore he made seven interceptions. His junior and senior seasons, Justin started at receiver and free safety, plus filled in on occasion at cornerback. As a senior, Justin had 40 receptions for 616 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had 18 career interceptions, five in his final season. On special teams, he blocked three extra points, a field goal and a punt his senior season.
Justin also served as an usher at New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit.
“I want to thank my teammates and coaches for helping me to excel in football at Dearborn. We never had a big team, but we played with heart each and every game. I also want to thank Coach Mifsud for having faith in me as a sophomore to get the job done on varsity. My parents have been great, in sports, but more importantly, in life.”
