John’s football career began in 8th grade. He plays offensive line and also is a solid kicker, with experience from having played soccer for many years in the Huron Valley Soccer League. He earned Varsity letters in football, track and wrestling. Johnny has been recognized in various ways, e.g. 2009 Detroit News All Metro North Team Honorable Mention; 2009 All Area Football Team, Spinal Column Honorable Mention; 2009 All Oakland County Football Dream Team, Oakland Press Honorable Mention; KLAA All Conference Honorable Mention Football 2009-2010 and Honorable Mention All League 2008-2009; Milford High School King of Boards Football Award – 2009 for OL. John is the first Milford High School athlete to participate in the East-West All Star Game. He was chosen to attend the 2009 Nike Camp and Football University.
John earned the Eagle Scout rank in 2009. He was accepted into the People to People Ambassador program. This entailed traveling extensively throughout the world. He continued his learning experience in 2006, 2007 and 2008 by participating in the annual People to People Global Youth Forum, which included students from around the world, joining together to conduct community service. He was invited in 2009 to the Presidential Inauguration for President Obama. In Spring 2009, he traveled with his Milford HS Spanish class to Spain and stayed with a local family. John will play college football and continue his studies at Grand Valley State University.
John said, “It does take a village to raise a child and I would like to thank Boy Scout Troop 176 and all the parents and students involved in scouting over the years, Church of the Holy Spirit, Earth Explorers, People to People, the YMCA, HVSC, HVE, Alpine Ski Valley, Wee Friends, close family friends and my extended family who have had a positive impact on my development and where I hope I have made a difference in other people’s lives.” He added, “I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all of those individuals as well as my coaches, in particular Coach Jeff Hill, teachers and team members who helped me be a part of the wheel of success.” He included, “a special thank you for my parents, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins for their continued support and coming to my games.”
