In his senior year, he excelled on the football field where he helped lead the Crusaders to the 2006 Public School League City Championship. He was named captain in his senior year and threw for 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was named First Team All City.

Jerrel said, “I give thanks to God for giving me the talent and abilities to perform well on and off the field. My favorite scripture is, ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me’ Philippians 4:13.” Jerrel thanked his mom, “for getting me started in football, and taking me back and forth to practice.” He thanked the Eastside Falcons for teaching him the game of football and the Detroit King coaches for getting him ready “for the next level (college).” He also thanked his teammates for the years of memories and said, “I’m loving the game even more.”
