Idris Hobdy is the son of Pondexter and Verronica Hobdy. He has a brother Dexter (20).

Idris started his football career in eighth grade as a member of the combined Saints team of St. Mary’s Mt. Morris. He was a two year varsity starter at linebacker/defensive end and running-back at Powers Catholic High School. Idris was named All Big 9 Conference and was an All State selection by the Detroit Free Press his senior season in 2011.

In addition to football, Idris was on the varsity basketball team for two seasons and the varsity track team for three seasons at Powers Catholic. He was an All Big Nine track runner in the 200 meter dash in 2010. He will play football for Wayne State University next season.

Idris thanked Coach Bob Buckle, Coach Ralph Zagari, Coach Mike Lintz, Coach Adam Smith, Coach Mike Muron, Coach Brian Birchmeier, Coach Dean Barkley, Coach Tim Herman, and Athletic Director Michael Pruschniki for “giving me the tools I need to succeed and fueling my drive to be the best version of myself.” He also thanked his adopted brother Nick Sullivan and Dexter, “Dexter is someone whose success I have to beat and Nick is someone who I have to stay ahead of, you guys constantly push me to be better.”
