Ian started playing football in the eighth grade as a quarterback. He played freshman football as a quarterback and kicker. Sophomore year on varsity he started at cornerback and kicker. Junior year he went back to quarterback and kicker and the team had an 11-1 season. Senior year he played running back, wide receiver, quarterback, kicker, punter, and kick returner. He broke numerous school receiving records, and also holds most of the kicking records for the Mariners. Ian was very involved in school.
Ian participated in National Honor Society, basketball, track, and the Marine City Chorale. He was also a youth football and basketball coach. His academics were always very important. He plans to be an orthopedic surgeon.
Ian thanked his family, “because they would have supported me in anything that I wanted to do. I have always looked to them for support and they have always been there.” He also thanked the whole coaching staff for making him not just the football player he is, but also the person that he is. He also thanked the whole community for supporting the program. Lastly, he thanked all the players that he ever played with. They were always pushing him to get better and he, “attributes a lot of his success to them, because it takes 11 guys at a time to make a play work.”
