Durant was a three-year varsity starter at both running back and defensive back for the Albion Wildcats.
During his career, Durant practically re-wrote the Albion football record book. He currently holds the record in seven categories. Durant is Albion’s All-Time leading rusher (2807) yards (wing T offense), 1st in career scoring (248 pts), lst in career TD’s (38), lst in season rushing TD’s (13), lst in season scoring (114 pts), 1st in season TD’s (17), and 1st in 100 yard rushing games (15). As a defensive back, Durant’s athleticism and ability to cover, earned him much respect from the opposing teams and Detroit Free Press 1st Team All State honors.
Durant also earned All State honors in both basketball and track. In basketball, he was a four-year varsity player, and three-year starter. Durant earned 2008 AP and BCAM 1st Team All State honors. In track, Durant was a four-year varsity letter winner, qualifying for the state meet in four events in all four years. Durant earned All State honors in the long-jump, 200 meter dash, as a member of the 800 meter relay team, and the 2007 state champion 400 meter relay team.
In addition to Durant’s athletic accomplishments, he had a 3.67 GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and actively participated as a member of Grace Temple Church of God in Christ.
Durant thanked “God for blessing me with athletic ability.” He also thanked all of his friends and family for their endless encouragement and support, as well as his coaches and teammates who all contributed to his success.
