DJ began his high school football career playing at Kalamazoo Central High School where he played varsity in both his ninth and tenth grade years. After his sophomore year, he transferred to Lansin g Sexton High School and played tight end and defensive end for the Big Reds. During his junior and senior years, he helped lead the Big Reds to back-to-back state playoff appearances.
“My senior year of football was the most incredible time I have ever had.” D. J. said. He set his goals high for the season and accomplished them. He totaled 53 tackles and 7 sacks in 7 games in his last season with the Big Reds.
D.J. also participated on Kalamazoo Central and Lansing Sexton’s varsity basketball teams. In his sophomore season, he helped Central to the district finals and received the “Most Improved Player” award.
D. J. will attend Bowling Green State University on a football scholarship where he will play defensive tackle for the Falcons. He plans to study sports management. “First,” D.J. thanked, “God for my many accomplishments because without Him none of this would be possible. I also thank my parents and family members for always being behind me no matter what.” He said, “thanks to the Big Red coaching staff for their help and the good times during practice and thanks to those who sponsored me in today’s game.”
