Dirk was a two-year letter winner for the Detroit Country Day Yellow Jackets, a two-year starter on the defensive line and a one-year starter on the offensive line. In his senior year he was named captain and while playing defensive line he recorded 71 tackles, 10 sacks, forced 4 fumbles and recovered 2 fumbles. As an offensive tackle he was a solid pass and run blocker. Dirk also contributed on the punt teams and kick return. Dirk was the 2004 Yellow Jackets Defensive MVP and the Sam Greenawalt Legacy Award winner. Dirk was selected by the Detroit Free Press to the All State Team. He was also selected to the All North, All County, and All Metro teams.
Dirk thanked his parents for all their support and encouragement in his life. He also thanked his coaches for pushing him, “to become the player that I am and his teammates for making football a fun experience.”
