Dalton Stenberg is the son of Steve and Julie Stenberg. He also has two very proud brothers, Brock and Carson Stenberg. His greatest fans include his grandparents Tony and Joan Stenberg and Gordon and Kay Gibson. His Aunt Tammy Coveart and cousins Tara and Alyssa Coveart have been watching him play since he was five years old.
Dalton started his football career with the Tri-Cities Mariners at age five. He was a natural and played both sides of the ball from the start. He was blessed to be coached by his dad for four years and together they had an undefeated season. He has played running back, linebacker, offensive line, defensive line, quarterback, tight end and receiver, but his love is for defense. Any day of the week, in any weather, Dalton could be found playing his own State Championship in the yard, practicing his diving catches and his fumble recoveries. It was those “practices” that prepared him for some special plays at Grand Haven High School for Coach Mike Farley. While Dalton has won several awards, the most meaningful award was the Most Valuable Player, voted by his beloved teammates in 2010.
Dalton is an all around athlete, having competed in track, basketball, wrestling and baseball. He also enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding and skateboarding. He also participated in band and National Honor Society. Dalton especially enjoys working with young students and athletes, and has a nice fan club at Rosy Mound Elementary.
Dalton thanked “God, my family, my coach Mike Farley and my team, the Grand Haven Buccaneers.” He has enjoyed the support of his school, the community and special friend and teammate Erik Johnson, who has been playing with him since he was ten years old. He sent “a special thank you to my girlfriend Cristina Perez” and said, “I have been blessed with a lot of people who have held me up when I needed it. Thank you doesn’t begin to say what I feel about them. I hope that I can continue to make them proud. Go Bucs! Go Rockets!”
