Corey Lacanaria is the son of Dwayne and Christine Lacanaria. He has three brothers: Christian (22) serving in the Army and based at Fort Riley in Kansas, Cheyne (20) attending Ohio Wesleyan University and Cole (10) attending Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic School.
Corey began playing football at the age of eight. He has competed in many football camps and has received MVP honors four years straight at Offense/Defense Football Camp and MVP honors at the Adidas Invitational in 2012 and 2013. His first football championship won was with St. Regis Catholic School for the Michigan Catholic League Championship, in eighth grade. Corey helped lead Brother Rice High School to three consecutive Michigan State Titles, with a 2013 record of 14-0, earning MVP state final honors his junior and senior years. Competing in the toughest high school football league in the state of Michigan- Corey holds Brother Rice High School records in: most pass receptions (season), most pass receptions (career), most yards receiving (season), most yards receiving (career), highest average yards receiving per game, most yards receiving in a game, most receptions in a game and most touchdowns receiving (season) along with (5) MHSAA record entries. His senior year totaled 65 receptions and 1,111 receiving yards, despite missing two games. Corey is ranked the #3 receiver and the #46 player overall by scout.com and the #4 receiver and the #49 player overall by CBS 247 sports, in the state of Michigan.
Corey thanked his family, the Ball State University football staff, Brother Rice High School and Coach Reggie Wynns for their support and is most thankful for- his Heavenly Father. He is committed to Ball State University to continue his football career. “I am so blessed and will take full advantage of the blessings and opportunities given to me.”
