Charles Waits (CJ) is the son of Charles and Michelle Waits. Charles has two sisters, Malesha Hudson (23) and Monique Hudson (20), both currently are in college. He also has an older brother, Charles Crenshaw (20), who lives in Montgomery, Alabama.
Charles began playing flag football at the age of five. At the age of six he began playing tackle football for the Southside Panthers, where he earned MVP two times and defensive MVP four times. His first year of high school, he played on the freshman team and had to sit out his sophomore year due to an injury. Charles played on the varsity team his junior and senior years. He was team captain for those two years and received First Team All Conference recognition as a linebacker. He was also named First Team All Area, and Holt Varsity leading tackler in his senior year.
Charles also competed in power lifting and ran track. His first time competing in power lifting was his sophomore year and he made it to States. Charles was selected to represent the state of Michigan in the 2013 Down Under Football Bowl in Australia in July 2013.
Charles said, “I want to thank, first and foremost GOD, for giving me the strength and ability to achieve success through him.” He also thanked Coach Don Green and my friends and family for their support.” He added, “Most importantly, I thank my dad, for teaching and inspiring me.”
