From the time Casey was an infant, he has been a part of the Flushing program. His mother held him in her arms watching his older brothers play and his father roam the sidelines as an Assistant Coach. He became Flushing’s water boy when he was able to walk. Casey said “I just use football for motivation. It’s taught me how to work hard and work with others as a team.” Coach Bob Buckle said, “Casey is a very hard worker and he does not ever take shortcuts. Casey would be the model of how we would like all our football players to be.” Casey had to sit out his freshman year, his growth spurt was so fast that he kept breaking bones in his feet. It was frustrating not being able to play but he never missed a practice. He hit the weight room, and got bigger and stronger.

Casey was a starter for the next three years. He played on both sides of the ball and was voted captain in both his junior and senior years. His 2007 team selected him as the MVP defensively of that year and his 2008 teammates voted him the teams MVP. Casey led the team in tackles both his junior and senior years with a career total of 507 tackles, 26 for losses totaling 95 yards. He had 3 inteceptions (2 for TD’s). As a fullback Casey rushed for 878 yards, 11 touchdowns and averaged 7 yards a carry.

Casey was a three-year “Iron Man” never missing a practice. He also was a member of the “Top Ten” placing 7 in 2006, 2 in 2007, and 1st in 2008. Casey also holds school records on the Powerlifting Team and earned varsity letters in baseball and track and field.
Casey thanked his family, “especially my Mom and Dad for all the support they have given me over the years.” He also thanked his “teammates, friends, neighbors and community for all the kind words and congratulations over the seasons.” He gave a, “Very big thank you to all of my coaches: head coach Bob Buckel, Larry Kelly my Dad and the rest of the coaching staff at Flushing High School.”
