Austin is the son of Kevin and Sandra Doan. He has an older sister, Breanna (20), who attends Oakland University and is on Oakland’s dance team, and a younger brother, Matthew (16), who plays football for the Romeo Bulldogs. 

Austin began playing flag football in the first grade. By the fourth grade he played junior football for the Almont Junior Raiders. In fifth and sixth grade he played at St. Lawrence, and in the seventh grade for the Romeo Junior Bulldogs. In the eighth grade, Austin played for his middle school team at Romeo Middle. As a freshman Austin was asked to play for the JV football team where he earned the Most Improved Player Award. Austin played on the varsity as a sophomore at left and right guard. He was voted the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman by his teammates in 2011 and 2012 and voted the Most Valuable Offensive Player in 2012. In addition to offense and defense, Austin was also a punter with a long punt of 65 yards. He has signed to play football at Central Michigan University as an offensive guard in 2013.

A member of NHS with a GPA of 3.75, Austin earned All Academic team awards all four years. He was a member of Link Crew his senior year. Austin played baseball for the Romeo Bulldogs both his freshman and sophomore years, and lettered in varsity basketball his junior year. He lettered in track and field his junior and senior years where he threw shot put and discus. In 2012 the Romeo Bulldogs won the Spicer Award for the community service work they’ve done as a team.

Austin said “I thank my mom, dad, sister and brother for always being there with love, support, and guidance academically and athletically. I thank all my teammates and coaches throughout all my years of playing football. I thank the Four Corners Football Club for all they’ve done to make my high school years as a Bulldog unforgettable.” Austin also thanked, “All my extended family and friends for the loving support and I especially thank my two coaches Curt Rienas and Jason Couch. You’ve taught me so many things both on and off the field which has made me a better person and player.”
