Assistant Coach Mark Thomas
South Lyon High School
Mark Thomas has been coaching high school, football for 26 years. He started coaching in 1978 at Harbor Beach High School under Hall of Fame Coach, John ( Jack) Dillon, for 13 years. He moved in 1991 to coach football at South Lyon High School with another Hall of Fame Coach, Bob Scheloske. His responsibilities have included Assistant Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams, Offensive Line, Defensive Line, and Linebackers coach. In 1999 Mark was awarded the Varsity Assistant Coach of the Year Award by the MHSFCA.
Mark graduated from St. Ladislaus High School in Hamtramck where he played football and baseball. He graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in special education and also played football for two years.
Mark is also a special education teacher for South Lyon High School and in the spring he coaches varsity baseball. He has coached baseball for 22 years, the last 11 at South Lyon. He also coached the East squad, in the 2003 High School All Star Baseball Game.
Mark has been married to his wife Donna for 21 years. They have three children, Brad 19, Bryan 17, and Amanda 13. One of his biggest thrills was coaching his two sons who both started on defense on the varsity football team in 2002.

Coaching in this All-Star Game is one of the highlights of my coaching career so far. I’m very excited to coach the best football players on the East Team All Stars and thanks to the Michigan High School Football Coaching Association for this opportunity.”
