Chad and the Mariners ended their season at Ford Field where they became the Division 4 State Champions. Chad scored two touchdowns in the championship game.
As a senior Chad was a team captain. He broke his own record with 171 receiving yards. He had 1,151 yards rushing and 660 yards receiving and a total of 193 points for the season. Chad was named MVP, Offensive Player of the Year and Offensive Running Back of the Year.
Chad also played basketball and ran track where he holds the school record for the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97. He played varsity basketball for three years and was a team captain.
Chad thanked the entire Marine City Football Staff. “Coach Scarcelli, Coach Glodich, Coach Fregetto, and Coach Letson are terrific. They have helped me tremendously. They have always encouraged me and always had faith in me, both on and off the field. Mr. Schamweber and Dr. Priebe always took care of me when I was hurting.” Chad also thanked his “parents, brother and sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts and uncle and all of the other family and friends that came to watch my games throughout the season.” He said, “Mariner fans are the greatest. We were stunned to walk out at Ford Field and see all of the orange and black. It was an amazing feeling.” He gave a “big thanks to my teammates. Without a team none of this would have happened.”
