As a sophomore, he was brought up to play both fullback and linebacker, where he contributed greatly right away. As a sophomore he earned 1st team All Conference as a Linebacker and 1st team All Area Linebacker. Johnny holds the career tackle record at Mona Shores with 289 tackles which included: sophomore – 104, junior – 89 and senior – 96. He also had a school record high of 24 tackles in one game as a junior. Johnny rushed for over 1,011 yards on 186 carries. He was 1st team All Area three years in a row, and a three-time 1st team All Conference player. He was also selected to be in West Michigan Showcase for male athlete of the year.
Johnny also participates in hockey, were he was an assistant captain, was part of the baseball team and was also a State Champion power lifter in the 242 pound weight division in 2008. Johnny was ranked in the top third of his senior class of 368 students. He volunteers his time in the community regularly.
Johnny will attend the University of Michigan where he will play football and earn his degree in sports medicine or exercise science. He said, “I would not be where I am without the great support from my family, relatives, friends, coaches, the community and also my cousin Billy and his wife Jessica for all that they have done for me and all of their support. Everyone has made my football experience the greatest it could ever possibly be and one that will stay with me for a lifetime. This great game has left me with nothing but great memories, and for that, I sincerely thank you.”
