Jalen’s parents are Jeff and Katrina Brooks. He has one younger brother, Keegan (14).
Jalen began his football career in the second grade. In his long career he has played quarterback, running back and defensive back. During his four year varsity career at quarterback for the Cadillac Vikings, Jalen amassed 4,015 yards rushing and scored two rushing touchdowns and 2,800 yards passing accounting for 38 touchdowns. For his career, Jalen averaged 7.11 yards per carry and had a pass completion rate of 60%. Jalen was a two year team captain.
Jalen also played basketball all four years of high school where he was a 1,000 point scorer, named all state three years and helped take the team to the state semi-finals in his junior and senior seasons. In his only year on the track team, as a sophomore, Jalen made the all state team.
