Lance Vanmeeteren is the son of Scott Vanmeeteren and Jill and Mike Young. He is the younger brother of Shawn Vanmeeteren working for the Gentex Corporation and Randy Vanmeeteren, a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
Lance started playing football upon his arrival at Northview High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prior to high school, Lance attended Walker Charter Academy. Lance received All Conference honors from the OK White Conference his senior season. He also received All Area acclaim from the Grand Rapids Advance newspaper, in addition to his numerous Northview awards.
Lance also lettered in track and field for Northview High School. Lance received state recognition during his power lifting career. Lance was a member of the esteemed Northview Student Advisory Board. He participated in the Black-out Pediatric Cancer fundraising week that culminates with a football game at Northview each of the past two falls. He helped raise over $35,000 in his two-year involvement for Helen Devos Children’s Hospital and the Pediatric Oncology Resource Team.
Lance thanked his parents for their patience, guidance, and support. He thanked his teammates for “the shared experiences we will always cherish.” He thanked his coaches and teachers for their involvement in his development as a student-athlete during his four years at Northview High School. Lance is currently undecided where he will continue his education in the fall.
