Anthony started playing football in the seventh grade. He fell in love with the game the minute he put the pads on. When he started at Ford he moved up to junior varsity in his freshman year. As a sophomore he moved up to varsity and tied a school record when he had 23 tackles in one game. He led in tackles every year after that. In his senior year he was named captain and helped lead his team to the Mac White Championship and was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Anthony also played four years of basketball, three years on varsity, and was also named captain in his senior year. Anthony was also on the track team for four years. He accumulated ten varsity letters at his four years at Ford.
Anthony said, “I could make an endless list of people who to thank throughout the years. Most important is my family. I will always be grateful to my dad for his support on and off the field. To my mom, I want her to know that her strength and encouragement has meant more to me than she will ever know. David, my older brother is serving in the Marine Corp. I love him and miss him and thank him for all the advice he has given me throughout my life. My younger brother Sean plays football, basketball, and baseball. I wish him the best of luck at Ford and hope that he enjoys every minute. I also thank my Grandpa Wine, who came to all my games and sat through some pretty cold and stormy weather. One man I will never forget is Coach Wagner. I thank him for everything he has taught me about football, and what it takes to be a team player. He wants us to be successful not only on the field , but he also cares about our future off the field as well. I thank Coach Rojeski, for making sure I stayed on the right path and especially for his sense of humor, Coach Ailmacher, who made me always give him my best, and taught me discipline, Coach Sturm, Coach Ganfield, and Coach Anthes, because of all of you, Henry Ford is back on top. I also thank all my teammates whom I will never forget. They were a huge part in fulfilling my dreams!”
