Ted is the son of Ed and Susan Sharkey. He is the youngest of three children. He has two sisters, Kaitlin (25) and Kelsey (24).
Ted began playing football at Jackson Catholic Middle School in seventh grade. He played in ninth grade at Lumen Christi High School. He was a two-year starter at Northwest High School. He was one of four captains his senior year, starting at both offensive guard, and defensive end. In his senior year, he received the team award for Best Lineman.
In addition to football, Ted played hockey starting at the age of six. He most recently was a member of the Michigan Ice Dogs Junior B, who made an appearance at the 2011 Junior B Nationals. In the spring, Ted threw discus and shot put on the track team.
Ted thanked, “My very supportive family and friends, as well as the Northwest community. The Northwest Athletic Boosters and Northwest Touchdown Club have both been extremely supportive throughout my high school sports experience. Special thanks go to Coach Cory Slater, Coach Dan Chomic, and Coach Eddie Cobb, who have helped me become the player and person I am today.”
Ted said, “I am undecided on where to go to play football next year, but I plan to study secondary education and sports management.
