Brett started playing football in seventh grade at Deckerville. He played varsity football four years and was team captain in both his junior and senior years. Brett started on both defense and offense and played special teams throughout his 45 game career. In his senior year, he captained his team to an 8-1 regular season and a District Championship. Brett signed with Northwood in January and will study sport and entertainment management.
Brett participated in two years of JV basketball and four years of power lifting, where he set state records in the bench press. He was on the track team for three years. He was also very active in raising money and working on the new field house/weight room facility in Deckerville.
Brett said, “I thank God for all the wonderful people I have in my life, and the athletism he has given me.” Brett also thanked his parents for, “making me go the extra mile in everything I do.” He thanked his “teammates who have been my brothers and who would do anything for me.” He thanked his coaches, “who are family. They made me set goals and accomplish them.” Brett also thanked the “great town of Deckerville for all of their support and spirit they show every football season.”
