Jimmy has been playing football since third grade, and ever since the day he first put on a helmet he has been in love with the game. He played all the way to eighth grade at St. Edith Elementary School in Livonia, and continued his career at The University of Detroit Jesuit High School. There, he played his first year on the freshman team. His sophomore year he proceeded to JV, but when the Cubs made the playoffs he was moved up to varsity to join them on their ride to a District Championship. He started the next two years at right tackle on varsity. His senior year he was named captain, and he helped lead his team to a 6-3 season, beating rival Brother Rice for the first time since 2001. The Cubs clinched a playoff spot and gave the soon to be state champ Detroit King one of their toughest games. He was given the Lineman MVP award at the end of the year. He truly had a great run with the Cubs.
While at U of D Jesuit, Jimmy was involved with many different clubs and activities. He was a member of NHS, the Pro-Life Club, the Tutor Club, and the Pledge Detroit and Service Co-Chair for the Student Senate. He helped net the most money from any fundraiser at U of D with his work in Pledge Detroit. He also ran for Vice President of the school his junior year.
Jimmy thanked several people for helping him get to this point in his life. “I thank my mom and dad who have been nothing but supportive to me over the years. I thank all of my coaches, especially Coach “O” (Oscar Olejniczak), for always sticking with the team even when times were tough. Finally, I thank “my boys” on the football team. These guys are my brothers, and I love all of them. Thanks for everything you’ve given me.”
