Colton is the son of Dan and Lora. His older brother, Connor, is a current CMU tight end. His younger brother, Keith, has four varsity letters through his sophomore year in high school. His sister, Camdyn, is 12 years old. Colton will be a third generation CMU football player, following his father, Dan, and grandfather, Bill.
Colton was named to the Associated Press Division 3/4 All State Honorable Mention Team, the All Saginaw Valley League first team, the Saginaw News Dream Team, and the Morning Sun All Area First Team. He helped lead Mt. Pleasant to a 13-1 record and a berth in the 2011 MHSAA Division 3 state championship game. In his high school career, Colton played in 12 post season games and Mt. Pleasant completed three straight undefeated regular seasons (2009-11), won three straight Saginaw Valley League titles and continued a streak of 32 straight conference wins. Colton caught 61 passes for 885 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior. He was also credited with 83 tackles in 2011, had season highs of nine receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-37 comeback win over East Grand Rapids in the state semifinals.
Colton also lettered in hockey, track, basketball and baseball for a total of 10 letters. In addition he was a volunteer for Natural Helpers at Mt. Pleasant High School.
Colton thanked his entire family for “all of the support and great fun over the years, including Cousin Ryan who is also a senior at Mt. Pleasant high school.”
