Charlie has been playing football since fourth grade. His high school career started off with an undefeated freshmen and JV season. Charlie led the team with over 30 touchdowns and over 2000 rushing yards. During Charlie’s JV year he was moved up to varsity for the post season where he started in the state championship game at Ford Field. Charlie’s junior year team went to Regionals and he gained another 18 touchdowns and 1000 + yards, and played linebacker on defense. During Charlie’s senior year he ran for a school record number of carries, yards and points and helped his team reach Regionals again. He earned first string honors in the Saginaw Valley Conference both his junior and senior years and first string All State running back his senior year. He was voted team Captain and MVP his senior year. Charlie has the most career rushing yards.
Charlie also ran on the track team and threw shot. He ran anchor in the 4 x 100 relay at the State finals in 2009. Charlie is active in church youth group and spends his free time helping neighbors and volunteering, including coaching at the Midland Youth summer football camp for the past three years. Charlie holds several school weightlifting records. Charlie has earned Scholar-Athlete recognition during each season.
Charlie first thanked “God for the opportunities he has given me.” He also thanked his “parents, sisters, dozens of uncles, aunts, cousins, and my niece for being the best fans and keeping me humble.” He said, “I particularly thank my teammates and linemen for pushing me in the forth quarter and for helping me up every time I got tackled.” He said, “I am indebted to my coaches for their knowledge, experience, love for the game and constant reminders of good conditioning and the importance of weightlifting.”
Charlie plans to Major in Engineering at Michigan Tech University and continue his football career.
