Alex’s parents are Mark and Amy Joss.  His mother played college basketball for the University of Detroit.  He has no siblings.

     Alex started playing football for the Walled Lake Braves when he was eight years old.  At Walled Lake Western High School he played on the freshman team his first year, then played three years on the varsity.  Hh has played offensive line his whole football career. As a junior and again as a senior he received recognition as All Conference, All Area, All County and All Metro North.  As a senior he was named All State.  Alex didn’t miss one start during his high school career.  He was a part of Walled Lake Western’s first conference championship since 1999, their third division championship in the past four years, and back-to-back district championships for the first time in school history.

     Alex was in the National Honor Society and earned a 3.76 GPA.  He also earned All State in powerlifting his junior season as a super heavyweight.  Alex also played baseball his freshman and sophomore years, and threw discus and the shot-put in his junior year. 

     He said, “I thank my high school coaches, especially Coach Zdebski, Coach Weiskopf, and Mr. Donahue for helping me throughout the recruiting process.  I also thank my mom and dad for always being at my games to support me as well as driving me to all of my practices when I was playing youth football.  Thank you also to my Walled Lake Western football brothers, I would not be the same person I am today without being around them during the entire year.  Lastly, I want to thank the entire Walled Lake Western student body (the tribe) for coming out every Friday night and supporting our team.”
