Zach started playing football in fifth grade. In high school he played two years on varsity and was a two-time All Capitol Area Conference – Gold defensive line pick (2007 & 2008). He was also named All CAAC – Gold offensive line in 2008. Zach was named All Area and Dream Team by the Lansing State Journal in both 2007 and 2008 for his defensive line play. He was named 1st Team Division 3 All State by the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News in 2008. Rivals.com listed Zach in their Top 200 Seniors of 2009.
Zach was was a part of Haslett High School’s award winning Vision 22 Advanced class in his junior and senior years. He participated in track in the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Zach was also a member of the award winning Viking Longboat Newspaper in 2009.
