DeQuan started playing in the PAL League while in elementary school, “largely because of my father’s influence. He enjoyed and played sports as well.”
DeQuan played basketball and football at Loyola. In 2007-2008, he was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Year. As a junior and senior DeQuan attended Fredrick Douglass High School. At Douglass he was named to the All City Defensive Team by the Detroit Free Press as a junior. As a senior he was named to the All City and All State Defensive Team, by the Free Press and was also voted the team’s MVP.
DeQuan said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to display my talents on the field. I thank my parents for their encouragement and support throughout the years. I thank my coach at Loyola. I especially want to thank coach Andre Harlen at Fredrick Douglass who has instilled in me work ethics, commitment and accountability. He is also primarily responsible for encouraging me to pursue my dream of going to the next level and attending college.”
