Greg Baur – Detroit Lions Coach of the Week (Week 1)

The Detroit Lions have named Greg Baur of Macomb Dakota High School the week one recipient of the 2024 High School Football Coach of the Week Program. Baur’s Cougars kicked off the season with an impressive 38-17 victory over the Dearborn Fordson Tractors. Macomb Dakota is currently ranked No. 3 in Division 1. On Friday, September 6th, Dakota hosts their 1st home game of 2024 as the L’Anse Creuse North Crusaders come to town for the 19th matchup all-time between these two programs.

Baur is in his 34th year of coaching high school football, spending 25 years as an assistant coach, 12 seasons of which were at Macomb Dakota, where he coordinated the defense on Dakota’s Division 1 State Championship teams in 2006 & 2007. He is currently in his 9th season as head coach at Dakota where he has compiled a 62-26 (70.5%) overall record, leading the Cougars to the playoffs each of his 8 seasons. Baur is a physical education teacher at Dakota High School.
