Christopher started playing football at age seven, when his godmother took him and his other two younger brothers to try out for the Detroit Pal Youth League’s “Detroit Vikings”. Since the first time he threw a football, he has always been a starter on any team he has played on. Christopher has only had three years on varsity, starting at the tailback and linebacker positions. During the three years, Christopher has only played in 24 of the 28 games due to injuries. In his sophomore year, Christopher rushed for 600 yards and 5 touchdowns while splitting time with an upper classman. He had 300 yards receiving and 2 scores. While playing defense he racked up 40 tackles along with 10 sacks. In his junior year he rushed for 500 yards and 5 scores, but his season was cut short due to an injury.
Christopher’s breakout year was his senior year. He ended with 17 touchdowns along with 1300 rushing yards. On defense he had 68 tackles, 18 sacks, 1 interception for a score, and 3 blocked punt/field goals. Christopher was first on the team in sacks, second in tackles for loss and in tackles.
Christopher ran track for three years and played baseball for one year while in high school. He plans to continue to play football at Mount Union University.
Christopher thanked his mother, father, grandparents, godparents, sisters, brothers, and cousins for, “supporting me in all aspects of life.” He thanked his family and friends at Vinewood Church of Christ, “for praying for and supporting me.” He also thanked the former coaches and players that he has played with for the past three years.
