Greg started playing football in eighth grade and in high school was a three-year starter at outside linebacker where he made over 250 total tackles. He was also a two-year starter at running back and lead the Western Lakes Division in rushing with 918 yards in 2003, despite missing three games due to thumb surgery. He was voted co-captain by his coaches and teammates. He also returned punts and kicks for two years. As a senior Greg set two school records for rushing yardage in one game (303) and total all purpose yards in one game (402).
Greg was a three-year starter in baseball where he received All Western Lakes Division honors as a junior. He lead the team in batting with a 465 average as well as hitting-for-the-cycle for the first time in school history. Greg also started on the hockey team his sophomore year but stopped playing to focus on football and baseball.
Greg thanked all of his high school coaches. He thanked his teammates, “for all the great memories,” and his parents and family, “for all their support throughout his life in sports.” He said, “A very special thanks goes to Coach Zdebski, Coach Castellon and Coach Brenner. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today as a player and an individual.”
